How STCs Work 

Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are under a government scheme that rewards you for fitting out your house with efficient appliances such as heat pumps. Installing an approved heat pump earns you STCs based on how much renewable energy your device is likely to produce throughout its life. STCs have a market price and they may be traded or applied as a credit on your installation. The higher the efficiency of your system, the higher the number of STCs generated and claimed by you.

Claiming STC Discounts

Your installer or system supplier claims STC discounts for you. If you purchase an approved heat pump, they’ll work out how many STCs your system is eligible for and give you a discount at the time of purchase equivalent to their market value. You get to pay less immediately without having to do the paperwork yourself.
